Conceive and Achieve it- Positive Coping Skills

Life has inevitable twists and turns, but what do you do when your life has a sudden halt, sudden tumble, or unexpected disappointment? Positive coping skills are our way to get through such difficult times. Some positive coping skills include relaxation and breathing exercises, eating a balanced diet, avoiding dependence on drugs and alcohol, and the most simple of all, using humor to lighten difficult situations.

Additional quick and simple coping strategies that can be used are the following:

When you feel stressed, practice taking long, deep breaths. Breathing exercises are one of the most readily available and simple coping skills to take advantage of when in a stressful situation.

Keep your body healthy by getting regular exercise and eating well. Getting 20 minutes of exercise three times a week along with eating a balanced diet are helpful and positive coping strategies for stressful and trying times.

Seek to find the positive in every situation.
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...
always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

The following test assesses your coping skills and your predominant methods of coping with stress. You will be asked to answer according to how you feel and react in response to high levels of stress in your life. When you answer, consider how you have dealt with stress in the recent past; our coping strategies can change over time so if you think about stressors that are too far back, the results may no longer reflect your current coping strategies.
